I finally started a food blog. I have been meaning to do this for about a year now. But, now I think I’m ready to start cataloging my adventures in the kitchen! So, a little bit about me…

My name is Anne. By day, I am a graphic designer, and by night, I am a graduate student in an MBA program. What do I do when I’m not designing, working, studying, reading, lifting weights, hiking, staying active, and trying to maintain some semblance of a social life? Well, I am cooking. A lot. Because I love to eat…a lot! I love savoring every last bite of something delicious, and I love bringing together family and friends for a meal. Cooking is nourishing for the body, and for the soul. There’s just so many great things that cooking can do for you.

Cooking is an activity that brings together three important aspects of my life: health, creativity, and originality. My food philosophy embraces healthy eating but not at the expense of taste or creativity. The recipes I create follow a primal or paleo way of eating, which essentially means whole, natural foods like pastured meat, pastured eggs, wild caught seafood, vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, fermented foods, and natural fats and oils, with the occasional raw, full fat dairy product here and there. I avoid grains, legumes, alcohol, any refined or processed foods, refined sugars, vegetable oils, and basically anything that can remain unchanged in a box for an indefinite number of months. This works best for me, and for my body.

Please be advised: I am not a nutritionist or a medical professional, so please don’t take my recipes as a prescription for any ailment! Unlike many people in the primal community, I do not suffer from an autoimmune disease, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, or any other ailment that would guide me toward a certain lifestyle. I simply found primal eating to be very harmonious for me, and I think it’s a very mindful way to eat healthily. I hope you are inspired to think about what it could do for you!
